SS-31 timeline: what research and user reports show

SS-31, studied clinically as elamipretide, concentrates directly in mitochondria and has been tested in human trials for primary mitochondrial disease, giving it more controlled human grounding than many research peptides.

Not usage instructions. This is a summary of published research and publicly reported research community experience. It is not a protocol, not medical advice and not a recommendation to start, stop or adjust anything.

Weeks 1 to 2: adjustment reports

Similar to MOTS-C, reports sometimes describe a brief adjustment window as mitochondrial activity shifts, generally milder and shorter than what is commonly reported with MOTS-C.

Weeks 4 to 8: cumulative reports

Reports increasingly describe steadier energy and improved exercise endurance in this window, consistent with SS-31's studied role in supporting mitochondrial membrane function.

Common questions

How does this compare to MOTS-C? Both target mitochondrial function but through different mechanisms, SS-31 by stabilizing mitochondrial membranes directly and MOTS-C through AMPK signaling. See our MOTS-C timeline for that comparison.

For mechanism, dosing reference and citations, see the SS-31 reference page.
