AOD-9604 is a synthetic peptide based on the tail end of human growth hormone, the region linked to fat metabolism. It was developed as a weight-loss candidate meant to trigger fat breakdown without raising blood sugar or growth like full GH.
It is thought to mimic the lipolytic tail region of growth hormone, stimulating fat breakdown and reducing fat formation. Unlike full GH it does not appear to bind the GH receptor or raise IGF-1 much in testing. Human efficacy work is limited, and a weight-loss trial did not clearly beat placebo.
Small human safety studies and one weight-loss trial exist, but human efficacy is limited and did not clearly beat placebo.
- Studied for stimulating fat breakdown and reducing fat storage
- Researched as a weight-support option that aims to spare blood-sugar effects
- May act on fat tissue without strongly raising IGF-1
- Explored for cartilage and joint support in early research
- Human safety data is limited, so the long-term risk profile is not well defined
- Possible injection-site reactions
- Headache or mild stomach complaints reported in some testing
- Efficacy for fat loss in people is unproven, so results may disappoint
A summary of the research, not medical advice. Individual benefits and risks vary, and for some of these compounds the human evidence is still early.
AOD-9604 was studied in human obesity trials that were ultimately discontinued due to insufficient efficacy against placebo. Reports of a felt fat-metabolism effect exist, but the controlled human evidence behind them is notably weaker than for the GLP-1 class compounds on this site.

Suppliers are listed alphabetically. We do not rank them by price, because the cheapest vial and the one worth buying are rarely the same thing. The column that matters is the last one, and today most of it reads "none on file", including for Quartz Peptides, which is owned by this site’s editor. See the disclosure and the COA guide.
Lyophilized: Keep the sealed powder cold and dark, near -20 °C, dry and out of light.
Reconstituted: Refrigerate the mixed vial at 2 to 8 °C, use within a few weeks and avoid freeze and thaw.
Let a cold vial reach room temperature before you open it, so it takes on less condensation.
How strong is the evidence for AOD-9604?
We grade it C on a four-point scale. Small safety studies and one weight-loss trial that did not clearly beat placebo.
What is the half-life of AOD-9604?
It is not well characterized in humans. Published pharmacokinetic data for AOD-9604 is thin, so any specific figure you see quoted should be treated with caution.
What amount of AOD-9604 is used in the research?
Ongoing: 250–500 mcg daily. Human efficacy for fat loss is unproven. Reference practice only.
How much does AOD-9604 cost?
A 5 mg vial lists at $47 from BioEdge Research Labs, which works out to $9.40 per mg and about $2.82 per dose at the amount used in research. Prices checked September 4, 2026. Price is not a quality signal, so check the certificate of analysis before ordering from anyone.
How is AOD-9604 stored once reconstituted?
Refrigerate the mixed vial at 2 to 8 °C, use within a few weeks and avoid freeze and thaw.
