Where a value is not established in people, this table says so rather than filling the box.
Tesamorelin is a stabilized form of growth hormone releasing hormone, or GHRH. It stands apart from most peptides in this space because a prescription version has been through real clinical trials, so its effects in people are better documented than usual.
Rather than adding growth hormone to the body, tesamorelin nudges the pituitary gland to release more of its own. It binds to GHRH receptors on the gland, which raises growth hormone in the natural on and off pulses the body already uses. That in turn lifts IGF-1 and encourages the body to burn fat, with the strongest effect on the deep abdominal fat that sits around the organs. Because the signal still runs through the body's own feedback loop, output stays self limiting in a way that injecting growth hormone directly is not.
Human clinical-trial data; FDA-approved as Egrifta for HIV-associated lipodystrophy.
- Studied for reduction of excess visceral abdominal fat in HIV lipodystrophy.
- May lower triglycerides and improve some lipid measures.
- Raises GH and IGF-1 by mimicking growth-hormone-releasing hormone.
- Studied for modest effects on liver fat and cognition in small trials.
- Injection-site reactions such as redness, itching and pain.
- Joint pain, swelling and fluid retention from GH elevation.
- Can raise blood glucose and reduce insulin sensitivity.
- Visceral fat returns after stopping, and use is not advised in active cancer.
A summary of the research, not medical advice. Individual benefits and risks vary, and for some of these compounds the human evidence is still early.
Tesamorelin has real controlled human trial data, mainly in visceral fat reduction, with published studies generally running 26 weeks. Reports describe injection-site reactions early, with measurable changes in visceral fat and IGF-1 building over 12 to 26 weeks.

Goal of the protocol. Target stubborn visceral belly fat by raising natural growth-hormone release.
Once daily, subcutaneous. For research reference only, not medical advice.

Suppliers are listed alphabetically. We do not rank them by price, because the cheapest vial and the one worth buying are rarely the same thing. The column that matters is the last one, and today most of it reads "none on file", including for Quartz Peptides, which is owned by this site’s editor. See the disclosure and the COA guide.
Lyophilized: Keep the sealed powder frozen at about -20 °C, dry and out of light, where it stays stable for a long time.
Reconstituted: Once mixed, refrigerate at 2 to 8 °C, use within a few weeks and never let it freeze and thaw.
Let a cold vial reach room temperature before you open it, so it takes on less condensation.
How strong is the evidence for Tesamorelin?
We grade it A on a four-point scale. Phase 3 data. Approved as Egrifta for HIV-associated lipodystrophy.
What is the half-life of Tesamorelin?
About 26 to 38 minutes. That is the figure the reported dosing frequency follows from.
What amount of Tesamorelin is used in the research?
Ongoing: 2 mg daily. The registrational trials used a fixed 2 mg daily amount, with no titration.
How much does Tesamorelin cost?
A 10 mg vial lists at $89 from Quartz Peptides, which works out to $8.90 per mg and about $17.80 per dose at the amount used in research. Prices checked September 4, 2026. Price is not a quality signal, so check the certificate of analysis before ordering from anyone.
How is Tesamorelin stored once reconstituted?
Once mixed, refrigerate at 2 to 8 °C, use within a few weeks and never let it freeze and thaw.
