Tesamorelin timeline: what the published trials and research reports show

Tesamorelin is one of the few peptides in this category with real controlled human trial data behind it, since it is an approved GHRH analog studied specifically for reducing visceral fat. That makes its timeline less speculative than most secretagogues on this site.

Not usage instructions. This is a summary of published trial data and publicly reported research community experience. It is not a protocol, not medical advice and not a recommendation to start, stop or adjust anything.

What the published trials reported

Controlled trials in HIV-associated lipodystrophy, the approved indication, generally ran 26 weeks and reported measurable reductions in visceral adipose tissue along with a rise in IGF-1 levels, with injection-site reactions as the most common adverse event.

Weeks 1 to 4: early reports

Injection-site redness or itching is the most commonly reported early effect. IGF-1 changes on lab work generally show up before any visible or felt change in body composition.

Weeks 12 to 26: where the trial data shows change

The trial's visceral fat reduction became measurable in this window, generally described as a gradual rather than sudden change, consistent with how growth-hormone-axis effects build over a full course rather than early doses.

Common questions

How is this different from Sermorelin or CJC-1295? All three are GHRH analogs, but tesamorelin has the most controlled human efficacy data behind it for a specific outcome, visceral fat reduction, rather than broader off-label use.
