Ipamorelin is a small synthetic peptide that acts as a selective growth-hormone secretagogue. It nudges the pituitary to release growth hormone in pulses while largely leaving cortisol and prolactin alone.
It binds the ghrelin receptor on pituitary cells to trigger growth-hormone release. Its selectivity means it raises GH with little effect on cortisol, prolactin or appetite, unlike older secretagogues. The released GH then drives IGF-1 production that supports tissue repair and body composition. Human data is mostly short pharmacology work, and long-term outcome trials are lacking.
